Yangon-Mandalay-Khamti-River Chindwin Cruise-MonYwa-AlaungDawKasapa-Mandalay-Yangon
From Tibetan Height to Andaman Sea, River Irrawaddy flows for
1,500 miles enabling a civilization to flourish. About at midway of her passage
Central Mountain Range break briefly for the river to shift slightly toward West
to get merged with River Chindwin. Chindwin itself has its source at Himalaya
and flows parallel and between River Brahmaputra of India and Irrawaddy.
Our destination, Khamti is situated uphill in the watershed
area of River Chindwin. Naga tribes habituating in Khamti area and beyond
highlands are ones genetically closest to Tibetans and Myanmar. Yet,
diversifications of cultures and progress shaped by historical events are
amazing. Geographical isolation helps these tribes to cling relatively detached
whereas Tibetans and Burmese are progressed along the onslaughts of Communism
and Colonialism. Cultural observations about people from such remote places
combined with Geographical exploration of exotic Asian Rivers are main features
of this tour.
