Tachileik – KengTung – Kalaw – Inle Lake – Mandalay – MonYwa – Bagan – Kyaik-Hti-Yeo – Yangon

Extending beyond classic cultural tour of scenic Kalaw, Loikaw and Inle, Destination “Kengtung” has been included. Area has been secluded from rest of the world for so long and only recently that Authorities have given permission to tour. Several indigenous tribes are fortunate enough to get attention timely when concepts like Small is Beautiful are aware, indignity of being opium planters lifted off and appreciated for being clung to such natural paradisiacal environ.

Day 1:

  • Arrival Tachileik check point at 08:00.
  • Sightseeing at Tachileik. Visit Tawlaw market and Wan Pong jetty, cruising in the Mekong river to see the joint area of Myanmar-Thai- Laos with long tailed jet boat.
  • Overnight at Tachileik.

Day 2:

  • Tachileik to Keng Tung by public van car. The car drive will take about 3 ½ hours.
  • After check-in at hotel visit Wan-Pauk, village of red clothed Palaung tribe.
  • Overnight at KengTung.

Day 3:

  • Visit Kat Tauk area Pin Tauk village and then hiking to see Akha & Ann tribes.
  • Pin Tauk water fall.
  • Wan Kan village (to observe Sake’ Rice Wine making with traditional process)
  • Wan Lau village (to observe Hand making “Saa-pulp” Shan Paper Works).
  • Overnight at KengTung.

Day 4:

  • Visit Keng Tung bazaar for the morning.
  • Visit Loi – Mwe, the hill top place with peaceful surroundings (1689 meters above sea level) & have a look at old colonial Governor’s House and old Church.
  • Ho Latt (A-kha small village), Naung Cho (Wa small village) & Pang-Y (Lahu village).
  • Overnight at KengTung.

Day 5:

  • After breakfast visit, Dhat Zoam Doi Ancient Pagoda.
  • Akhe’s Wan Sai village.
  • Ann’s Ho Lung village beside the road.
  • Transfer to the airport. Keng Tung to Heho by flight.
  • Welcoming at Heho airport and transfer to Kalaw. Arrival Kalaw at late evening.
  • Overnight at Kalaw.

Day 6:

  • Starting the trekking trip at 07:00 after breakfast.
  • Trekking route is: Kalaw -Taryaw-Ywarthit. These are Palaung Villages. You can observe hill-side plantations, tea leaf cultivation and sebestan-leaf plantations, and traditional long houses.
  • Return back to hotel at evening.
  • Overnight at Kalaw.

Day 7:

  • After breakfast visit Kyone market place and proceed to Pindaya.
  • Sightseeing at Pindaya Natural Cave and Pindaya environs. Set out to Inle Lake. After check in at hotel take a brief boat tours to Phaung-Daw-Oo Pagoda, Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery etc. Depending on arrival time at Inle we will explore more until sunset.
  • Overnight at Inle Lake.

Day 8:

  • After breakfast visit Ancient Pagoda Complex of Indein, Jumping cat monastery, Floating Garden,
  • Floating village for excursion as well as enjoyment of natural scenic beauties.
  • Visit weaving village of In-paw-khonOvernight at Inle Lake.

Day 9:

  • After breakfast, drive to Taunggyi (The capital of Shane state) and visit Kakku Pagoda Complex, a newly discovered with nearly 2500 Buddhist stupas lying in parallel rows in an area of about one square kilometer in the deepest Pa-O territory.
  • Drive back to Nyaung Shwe at evening.
  • Overnight at Inle Lake.

Day 10:

  • Heho to Mandalay by morning fight.
  • Welcoming at Mandalay airport. Visit Ava (Innwa), U-Bein Bridge, Amarapura and Maha Gandayon Monastery on the way to hotel. These tour sites of ancient cities are closer to airport than to City. Check-in at hotel and continue sightseeing Mandalay, Ku-tho-daw Pagoda, Shwe-Kyaung, Atu-mashi and visit Mandalay Hill to enjoy sunset view of Mandalay Plain, River Irrawaddy and Sagaing Hills beyond.
  • Overnight at Mandalay.

Day 11:

  • Take a sightseeing trip to Mingun across the River Ayeyarwaddy to see the world largest (working) bronze bell of Mingun Bell. Proceed to Sagaing by the same boat. Tour around Sagaing by car. Return to Mandalay by crossing River Irrawaddy by the Ava Bridge, one pre-war monolith.
  • Overnight at Mandalay.

Day 12:

  • After breakfast set out to Mon-ywa by car, about 136 km to the west of Mandalay. It is the commercial center of Chindwin Valley. It is only 3 hours drive from Mandalay. Visit Po Win Taung (Mt. Po Win), Mt Shwe Ba (the entire mountain was carved into caves, niches, staircases and Buddha Images), Than-bok-de Pagoda, Bodhi-ta-taung Hillock and Ledi Kyaungteik monastery.
  • Overnight at MonYwa.

Day 13:

  • Take an early breakfast and proceed to Myin-Mu by car. Myin-Mu to Bagan by river cruising express liner passenger vessel R.B. Shwe Kain-na-ri.
  • Departure Myin-Mu at 08:00 AM and arrive at Bagan in the evening between 16:00 and 18:00 PM.
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 14:

  • Visit Nyaung-Oo Market, a typical Upper Myanmar market place relied upon by a hub of villages and towns neighboring around. Shwe-zi-gon Pagoda, an exquisite feature of Myanmar stupa built on sandstones; Kyan-sit-thar U-min, a tunnel with fine intricate paintings; Wet-kyi-in Gu-byuk-kyi Temple with ancient mural paintings of Jartaka scenes; Hti-lo-min-lo Temple, famous for its plaster carvings; and Shwe-gu-gyi Temple with fine stucco carvings. Continue sightseeing Archeological Museum; Ananda Temple, a temple of massive and finest brick works. That-byin-nyu Temple, rising to a height of 201 feet above the ground overlooking other monuments around. Bu-pa-ya close to Ayeyarwaddy river and a fine place to enjoy sunset view.
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 15:

  • Continue sightseeing the historical monuments of Bagan Archeological Zone.
  • After taking lunch, set out a 45 minutes drive to Mount Popa, Oasis of the dry zone. Climb up Taung-ka-lat, an offshoot of Mount Popa, by the 777 steps of sheltered stair case.
  • Tangs-ka-lat is 400 feet high above its base. Return back to Bagan to enjoy the scenic view of Bagan sunset.
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 16:

  • Take a car ride to Sa-lay where rare cultural works of wood carvings, lacquer ware Buddha image and other monuments of remarkable handicrafts. It is a half day trip. Remain half day is the free day to enjoy Bagan experience. (bicycles and/or horse cart hiring could be arranged, as optional).
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 17:

  • Bagan to Yangon by flight. Welcoming at the airport and transfer to hotel. On the way visit Kaba-Aye (World Peace) Pagoda dedicated to the cause of world peace, Maha Pasana Guha Cave; where sixth Buddhist council was held and Buddhist Art Museum which are in same compound. Gem Mart: where gem-sets of precious stones can be viewed without being pressed for sale.
  • After lunch visit Bogyoke Market (Scott Market) and Shwe-da-gon Pagoda at night fall.
  • Overnight at Yangon.

Day 18:

  • After breakfast visit the Village of National Races where traditional habitats are displayed. In spite of artificiality it is good place to observe the traditional utensils, building styles, pattern of adornments and especially the merging and uniqueness of each style among major Asian trends.
  • Take a car ride to Kyauk-Tan and Syriam, across the Bago River to the east of Yangon. Syriam is one of a famous City state seaport by the time International traveling started spreading out. The dominant Mon cultural monuments of thousand year old could be visited. Visit Kyaik-Khauk Pagoda. Pass by Industrial Estate and Thilawa Jetty. Visit Ye-Le Pagoda at Kyauk-Tan. Lunch at Syriam. Return back to residing hotel and refreshment. At the evening strolling around China Town.
  • Overnight at Yangon.

Day 19:

  • Yangon to Kyaik-Hti-Yoe by car. Departure Yangon at 06:00. Brief stop at Mo-pa-lin across River Sittang for a tea break.
  • Arrival Kin-pun-sa-kan about 10:30. Direct transfer to Ya-theik-taung by mini truck ferry service. Ya-theik-taung to hill top platform of Kyaik-Hti-Yoe Pagoda is about 40 Minutes trekking route on foot. Lunch at Hotel. Sightseeing Kyaik-Hti-Yeo Pagoda and its environs. Kyaik-Hti-Yoe is 7.5 meter tall pagoda built on top of 6.7 meter high huge boulder (approx. 668 tons) which is perched on the edge of precipitous cliff. The cliff itself is 1095 meters above sea level.
  • Overnight at Kyaik-HtiYoe.

Day 20:

  • After breakfast departure Kyaik-Hti-Yoe. On the way visit Bago, ancient capital of Mon Kingdom, where cultural heritages along with interesting legends to observe. Sightseeing historical monuments, old palace site, Bago Market and wood carving industries to have a glimpse of lower Myanmar region.
  • Overnight at Yangon.

Day 21:

  • Morning visit Sule Pagoda, Mahabandoola Park, Old Yangon (Colonial Building), National Museum & Naga glass factory.
  • Leisure and shopping. Transfer to Yangon International Airport. Departure Yangon by evening flight.
