RIVER CHINDWIN VALLEY

12 Days / 11 Nights Tour
Yangon – Homalin – Riving Cruising – MonYwa – Mandalay – Bagan – Inle Lake – Yangon

From the Tibetan Height to Andaman Sea, River Irrawaddy flows for 1,500 miles enabling a civilization to flourish. About at midway of her passage Central Mountain Range break briefly for the river to shift slightly toward West to get merged with River Chindwin. River Chindwin has its source at Himalaya and flows parallel and between River Brahmaputra of India and Irrawaddy.

Cultural observations of people from such remote places combined with Geographical exploration of exotic Asian Rivers are main features of this tour.

Day 1:

  • Arrival Yangon by morning.
  • Welcoming at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing the highlights of Yangon. Shwedagon Pagoda and National Museum will give a brief image of Myanmar.
  • Overnight at Yangon.

Day 2:

  • Yangon to Homalin by flight. ‘Homalin flights will run on Thursdays only, itinerary is based on these scheduled flights of private airline: Air Bagan. If there be cancellation of flight on Thursday flight by national airline (Myanmar Airways) has to be relied upon. And thus our schedule has to be corrected by lesser days of river cruising (3 nights en route).
  • Welcoming at Homalin Airport and transfer to jetty. It is arranged to board R.B. Zin Yaw, it will be mooring at Homalin Jetty. After lunch, sightseeing Homalin. If the flight goes by schedule, and by the day light permitting, we will commence the cruising in the afternoon.
  • Overnight onboard at Homalin.

Day 3:

  • If sightseeing and staying at Homalin Town is favourable, our cruising journey will commence early morning of this day.
  • Overnight onboard near Paungbyin.

Day 4:

  • Continue sailing down the river with brief village-tour at Kindat and walking tour at Maw-laik.
  • Overnight onboard near Mawleik.

Day 5:

  • Continue sailing down the River Chindwin. Excursion tour at Kalewa and Minkin will be arranged.
  • Overnight onboard near Minkin.

Day 6:

  • Continue sailing down the River Chindwin.
  • Overnight onboard near Kani.

Day 7:

  • Proceed to Mon-ywa. Arrival MonYwa at about 10:00 am. Transfer to hotel.
  • Visit to Po Win Taung (Mount Po Win), Shwe Ba Taung (the entire rocky hill was carved into caves, niches, staircases and Buddha Images).
  • Overnight at MonYwa.

Day 8:

  • After breakfast, set out to Pakokku by car. Sightseeing Yesagyo and Pakokku, which are the heartland of Myanmar right along the Central Yoma. Proceed to Bagan by boat from Pakkoku by the River Irrawaddy.
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 9:

  • Visit Nyaung-Oo Market, Shwe-zi-gon Pagoda, an exquisite feature of Myanmar stupa built on sandstones; Kyan-sit-thar U-min, a tunnel with fine intricate paintings; Wet-kyi-in Gu-byuk-kyi Temple with ancient mural paintings of Jartaka scenes.
  • Continue sightseeing Archeological Museum; Ananda Temple, a temple of massive and finest brick works. That-byin-nyu Temple, rising to a height of 201 feet above the ground overlooking other monuments around; Bu-pa-ya close to Ayeyarwaddy river and a fine place to enjoy sunset view.
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 10:

  • After breakfast, set out a 45 minutes drive to Mount Popa, Oasis of the dry zone. Observe the Myanmar traditional pilgrimage spot at the base of Popa Taung-ka-lat : hut-shops-mall where local produce are displayed, food stalls and religious paraphernalia. It is kaleidoscopic view of Myanmar cultural images in display. Faith of Buddhism as emerged along with local deities, believed to be protectors of Buddhism and of course the worshippers. The place is very colorful, highly animated and distinctly Burmese. To visit palm tree farm of local village, on the way back to Bagan. Lunch at Bagan. Continue sightseeing at the world’s renowned ancient city of Bagan. Visit lacquer ware workshop where detail processes could be observed along with the way of life from commercial industry. Visit villages of Min-nan-thu Village and Pwa-saw Village around which numerous monuments will be observed. Sunset at Shwe-san–daw Pagoda.
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 11:

  • Bagan to Yangon by morning flight. Welcoming at airport and transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing for the afternoon at Yangon: Su-le Pagoda, visit the down town (Old Colonial Buildings). In the evening, visit Karaweik Palace Hall at Kandawgyi Garden and visit around Kandawgyi Garden. After then strolling around China Town.
  • Overnight at Yangon.

Day 12:

  • Yangon sightseeing. Visit Bogyoke Aung San Market. Transfer to Yangon International Airport for departure evening flight.
