Yangon – Keng Tung – Pindaya – Inle Lake – Mandalay – Mon-Ywa – Bagan – Sittwe – Mrauk Oo – Vesali – Ngapali Beach – Yangon

Rakhine people and Rakhine cultures are rich in contents and high in spirit making up the major pillar of Myanmar union. Since A.D. 1430, ancient city Mrauk Oo had been capital of a coastal nation, strategic in merchant routes between India and Eastern ports of Java-Sumatera and beyond to China, until late 18th Century. Surviving monuments, stupas and pagodas at Mrauk Oo Archeological Zone reflects the past glories of 354 years under the lineage of 49 kings. Preceding Mrauk Oo era are Din-ra-wady, Wei-tha-li and Le-mro eras, from where cultural values are carried along.

Day 1:

  • Arrival Yangon by morning flight.
  • Welcoming at the airport and transfer to hotel. Sightseeing the highlights of Yangon. Shwedagon Pagoda and National Museum will give a brief image of Myanmar.
  • Overnight at Yangon.

Day 2:

  • After breakfast transfer to airport. Yangon to Keng Tung by flight. Visit Wan-Pauk, village of red clothed Palaung tribe wearing silver and lacquered waistbands.
  • Overnight at Keng Tung.

Day 3:

  • Visit PinTauk village of Kat Tauk Area, hiking around to see Akha and Ann tribes. Picnic lunch at PinTauk waterfall. Visit WanKan village to see Sake’ Wine brewing process, Wan-Lau village to see hand making of “Saa-pulp”, Shan Paper Works.
  • Overnight at Keng Tung.

Day 4:

  • Visit small town of Loi-Mwe, one hour drive from Keng Tung. Sightseeing Loi-Mwe environ and small villages around.
  • Overnight at Keng Tung.

Day 5:

  • Keng Tung to Heho by flight. Welcoming at Heho airport and set out to Pindaya by car. Visit Pindaya Natural Cave and sightseeing Pindaya environs.
  • Overnight at Pindaya.

Day 6:

  • Pindaya – Inle by car. Proceed to Inle. Transfer to hotel. Sightseeing around Inle Lake.
  • Overnight at Inle Lake.

Day 7:

  • After breakfast, full day sightseeing of Inle Lake. Tour highlights include
  • 5 day rotation Market at one of the village;
  • Intha Natives’ Method Of Fishing;
  • Gold and Silver Smith Workshop at Ywama Village;
  • Cheroot and Boat Making Workshops in Nan Pan Village.
  • Continue visit to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda.
  • Afternoon, visit
  • Shan Shoulder Bag Weaving Center;
  • Floating Garden and Nga Phe Chaung Monastery, better known as “Jumping Cat Monastery”.
  • Overnight at Inle Lake.

Day 8:

  • After breakfast, drive to Taunggyi (The capital of Shan state) and visit Kakku Pagoda Complex, a newly discovered with nearly 2500 Buddhist stupas lying in parallel rows in an area of about one square kilometer in the deepest Pa-O territory.
  • Drive back to Nyaung Shwe at evening.
  • Overnight at Inle Lake.

Day 9:

  • Heho to Mandalay by domestic fight. Welcoming at Mandalay airport. Visit Maha Gandayon Monastery on the way to hotel. These tour sites of ancient cities are closer to airport than to City. Check-in at hotel and continue sightseeing Mandalay, Ku-tho-daw Pagoda, Shwe-Kyaung, Atu-mashi and visit Mandalay Hill to enjoy sunset view of Mandalay Plain, River Irrawaddy and Sagaing Hills beyond.
  • Overnight at Mandalay.

Day 10:

  • Take a sightseeing trip to Mingun across the River Ayeyarwaddy by chartered boat.
  • Mingun Bell (the world largest working bronze bell)
  • Pa-hto-taw-gyi Mya Thein Tan Pagoda.
  • Return to Mandalay in the afternoon. Continue sightseeing highlights of Mandalay.
  • Visit to Mandalay Royal Palace.
  • Overnight at Mandalay.

Day 11:

  • Take a sightseeing trip to Sagaing. Tour around Sagaing Hill

Climb up to a Pon-nya-shin Pagoda of Sagaing Hills by car; visit numerous pagodas and monasteries on the hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees.

  • Visit Hsinmyashin Paya, and a few kilometers north are a couple of silver smith factory and shops.
  • After that, visit to Kaungmudaw Pagoda.
  • Lunch at Sagaing, Transfer to jetty, set out to Ava by ferry boat.
  • Take a horse cart to visit the left-over buildings of the Ava period including Bagayar Monastery, a huge teak wood structure.
  • ‘Maha Aung-mye Bonzan’ Me-Nu brick Monastery.
  • Proceed to Amarapura and to enjoy the sun set view at U Bein Bridge.
  • Overnight at Mandalay.

Day 12:

  • After breakfast set out to Mon-Ywa by car, about 136 km to the west of Mandalay. It is the commercial center of Chindwin Valley for Myanmar-India trade. 10 miles before Mon-Ywa, turn right for sightseeing at Tham- Buddhay and Bodhi-Ta-Taung. Check in at hotel. And after refreshing, sightseeing at Mon-Ywa town for the afternoon. Visit Kyauk-kar Villages to see Shwe- Gu-Ni and village industry.
  • Overnight at Mon-Ywa.

Day 13:

  • After breakfast, visit Pho Win Taung (Mt. Po Win), Mt Shwe Ba (the entire mountain was carved into caves, niches, staircases and Buddha Images).
  • Overnight at Mon-Ywa.

Day 14:

  • After breakfast, set out to Pakokku by car. Sightseeing Yesagyo and Pakokku, which are the heartland of Myanmar right along the Central Yoma. Proceed to Bagan by boat from Pakkoku by the River Irrawaddy.
  • Overnight at Mon-Ywa.

Day 15:

  • After breakfast sightseeing Bagan by horse cart.
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 16:

  • After breakfast, set out a 45 minutes drive to Mount Popa, Oasis of the dry zone.
  • Observe the Myanmar traditional pilgrimage spot at the base of Popa Taung-ka-lat : hut-shops-mall where local produce are displayed, food stalls and religious paraphernalia. It is kaleidoscopic view of Myanmar cultural images in display. Faith of Buddhism as emerged along with local deities, believed to be protectors of Buddhism and of course the worshippers.
  • he place is very colorful, highly animated and distinctly Burmese.
  • To visit palm tree farm of local village, on the way back to Bagan.
  • Lunch at Bagan. Continue sightseeing at the world’s renowned ancient city of Bagan.
  • Sunset at Shwe-san-daw Pagoda.
  • Overnight at Bagan.

Day 17:

  • Bagan to Sittwe by flight. Welcoming at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
  • Sightseeing around Sittwe.
  • Overnight at Sittwe.

Day 18:

  • Sittwe – Mrauk Oo (Mrohaung) by boat.
  • Ancient city of Mrauk Oo or Mrohaung is situated 50 miles (80 km) inland from the mouth of Kaladan River, on a rocky plateau between Kaladan and Le-mro rivers.
  • Overnight at Mrauk Oo.

Day 19:

  • Take a 5 miles rugged road drive to Nankyar jetty by car. From there to take a 5 miles up-stream boat trip to Kritchauung.
  • It’s a mountainous terrain where rivers and streams of Rakhine land begin. Scenes are superb. Sin gay Village, another 5 miles up-stream, is one of scattered hamlets. Tattoo culture of these Southern Chin tribes is called Pa-Yea, facial tattoo, and they differ in patterns with tribes. Cruising on a meandering river in steep gorges is mesmerizing. It is a mild adventure destination. Return trip down – stream to Mrauk Oo.
  • Overnight at Mrauk Oo.

Day 20:

  • Mrauk Oo – Mahamuni – Vesali (Wethali) excursion trip.
  • After breakfast visit to Wethali (Vesali), 6 miles to the north of Mrauk Oo. The archaeological department reports that Vesali was a city belonging to the main period from 4th to 8th century which was confirmed by the findings of excavations at Vesali. The areas of the city is about 2.7 square miles and then see Vesali Su Taung Pyae (wish-granting) sand-stoned Buddha image (17 feet high) and old palace- site. Now this palace-site already turns to village.
  • Proceed to Da-nya-waddy City where there is replica of Maha Muni Buddha Image. Da-nya-waddy City is 16 miles north of Vesali and 21 miles north of Mrauk Oo. The earliest old city in Rakhine (B.C 582 to 326 AD). In 1824, King Bodawpaya of Amarapura (Mandalay) occupied Rakhine and took away Maha Muni Buddha image as a trophy. Some believe the original Maha Muni Buddha image is presently at Mandalay, but one parallel argument is original statute was hidden from Amarapura troops, that it is presently the image of this old Da-nya-waddy City.
  • Overnight at Vesali.

Day 21:

  • Take the boat trip from Mrauk Oo to Sittwe. On the way visit Mro Tribe Village.
  • And take Sittwe ~ Thandwe by afternoon flight.
  • Welcoming at Yangon airport. Transfer to Hotel.
  • After refreshment, visit Shwedagon Pagoda at night fall.
  • Overnight at Ngapali Beach.

Day 22:

  • Beach Stay at Ngapali Beach.
  • Overnight at Ngapali Beach.

Day 23:

  • Beach Stay at Ngapali Beach.
  • Overnight at Ngapali Beach.

Day 24:

  • Thandwe to Yangon by morning flight. Welcoming at airport and transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing for the afternoon at Yangon: Su-le Pagoda, visit the down town (Old Colonial Buildings). In the evening, visit Karaweik Palace Hall at Kandawgyi Garden and visit around Kandawgyi Garden. After then strolling around China Town.
  • Overnight at Yangon.

Day 25:

  • Yangon sightseeing. Visit Bogyoke Aung San Market. Transfer to Yangon International Airport for departure evening flight.
